Despite the advent of iCloud, many continue to back up the iPhone and iPad on the computer: some do not trust cloud storage, others simply get used to connecting the device to iTunes. As a rule, backups created on the computer are often protected by passwords (only one tick), and in many cases passwords from such backups forgotten with time. Even in our editorial office, there are a couple of such cases. Therefore, we began to search for a solution to this problem and, surprisingly, found an application that allows you to restore the password from a backup.
In the new version PhoneRescue applications under the number 3.7.0, the developers added functionality recovery of passwords from backups of iOS-devices in iTunes. Just start the program and select the “Recover from iTunes Backup” section. The application itself will detect all backup copies of iOS devices on your computer, including a password-protected one. We select the last one and proceed to the next stage.
After a notification appears that the backup is password protected, you can enter the password (if you remember it) or click “Forget Password”. In the next window, you need to enter some details about your password: for example, whether it contains special characters, numbers or capital letters. It is also necessary to set the minimum and maximum length of the password and the speed of password recovery. This leading information is necessary since it is known only to the owner of the device – this minimizes the risk of using the application by intruders.
Next, “magic” will begin, the speed of which depends on the complexity of the backup password and the version of iOS, on the basis of which the backup was created. If the password is very complicated, get ready to wait about an hour, in other cases, the hacking happens quite quickly.
When the operation is completed, the application displays the backup password, with which you can open it. And it is better to write it down for the future.
